Woe Unto Them

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

This verse comes into my mind on an almost daily basis. The most recent was just this morning when I read a comment on one of my recent posts called "Murder" The anonymous commenter said "Who says anyone of us can pass judgement upon a person? Abortion should be the choice of the woman who needs to decide what's right for her. Politicians and religious fanatics need to mind their own business." In other words, a woman having her baby murdered is good, but someone opposing that murder is evil.

And that brings me to another point. How is it that most of those who are pro abortion are also anti death penalty? It boggles the mind, and is perhaps the personification of what Isaiah 5:20 is talking about. There has to be something really twisted in the mind of someone to affirm murdering an innocent but to rail against executing the guilty. Or could it be that, rather than applying rational thought, they just choose to oppose whatever God's word says.

Woe unto them.

Seperation of church and state. I am pro life and do support the dealth penalty. If you take out the religion it's easy to see. Everyone has their own opinions and that's what makes this country great. Keep up the fine work.

Forgot something, but I still do belive the choice is up to the woman who is pregnant. NO ONE has the right to persuade her any other way. Guess I'm pro life and pro choice, if that makes sense?

St. Lee said...

First off, Anonymous #4 and 5, thanks for the friendly civil comments.

However, I do believe that there is ONE who has the right to not only persuade the pregnant woman, but to command her. See Exodus 20:13.

But if that argument fails (and it is by far the best one) how about this one: Imagine a place and time with no governments, no laws, no charitable organizations. Someone leaves a toddler on your property during the night and they are gone without a trace. If you take the toddler in and care for him you know you will be stuck raising that child until he is grown. There is no place to take him and it will change your life forever. Do you have the "right" to kill that child? If it happened to your next door neighbor would they have the right?

How is that different from a woman's right to kill her child in the womb? Except of course no woman is forced to raise the child she births, since adoption is an option.

This weekend, I had a conversation with my younger brother who professes Christ and is married to a girl who professes Christ but they are, how you say, shacked up. I confronted him with his sin and called him to repent. He said he didn't think he was sinning. I asked what his pastor thought about this expecting to get the answer of "It's none of his business". Nope. He said his pastor was cool with it. I called the pastor to ask him. He said "Well, it's not ideal, but it's not a perfect world." I confirmed that he was not calling it sin and he said "No".

I then called him a wicked false prophet.

Was that over the top? I can NEVER tell.

Joe Blackmon said...

Edit...My younger brother is NOT married. He is ENGAGED to be married. If he were marrried he would not be shacked up by definition. Haa

WOW! I guess you hit a nerve!! Some people don't seem to understand that a human life is being taken and if that is ok why can't I eliminate any one I don't like? Because it is morally wrong! Is shacking up wrong? Yup. Is the pastor who says it isn't a sin wrong? Yup. People are not perfect but the bottom line is abortion is still murder.

Joe, I'd say you handled it very well. Just off the top of my head I'd say that we need to be gentle with those who are sinning, especially if they don't know it, but "over the top" with those who are teaching them to sin.

Anonymouse #2,3 &6. Only a real "girly-man" man would use such profanity while hiding behind an "anonymous" comment. Why don't you start your own blog - the world needs more humor (the humor would be in your writing skills and Biblical knowledge). But I am happy to continue deleting your comments as long as you keep including the profanity.

What are you a x druggy ,drunk or something now on your soap box "teaching the ways of the lord" To bad we couldn't read those posts you deleted. Are you going to do the same to this one. An I don't have a google account so thats why my name is anonymous, but if you want I'll post my home address.

Wow a lot of inimicality in the comment post's. Let me clear this up CHRISTIANITY: The belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh, drink his blood and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-women was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Makes perfect sense. I hope this was helpful-Keith D

Thanks Keith D I get it know. I've been wrong all these years. I'm going to sell my house and give part of my pay to the church. thanks Praise the lord!

The argument for abortion that it is the woman's body and she should have the right to choose boggles my mind. Of course she has the right to choose. She has the right to choose to do, or do not what causes pregnancy. (and before someone replies back "she doesn't in the case of rape or incest." I am speaking SOLELY about promiscuous behavior.) At the point a woman makes the decision to have sex without birth control or protection is the point at which she should accept she made the decision to possibly become a mother. Yet as you say, it's daily that we see the verse born out evil is good and good evil. Praise God for discernment through His Spirit!

See, all you need to do to have your anonymous comments left intact is to avoid the profanity. I am fine with the fact that you hate the Lord. He is your judge, not me.

As for being an ex druggy, drunk, etc I plead guilty as charged. The Lord has been unbelievably merciful to a wretch like me. How can I help but try to spread his word. By the way, Christ has made that same offer of mercy to all who read this.

Keith D, I had already typed up a witty and stinging response to your comment, but out of Christian charity I deleted it.

John, the reason I allow anonymous comments is because I know everyone who happens upon this blog does not have an account, and I prefer to let them add their thoughts, whether positive or negative. I am not willing to let it become x rated though, so I will continue to delete and ridicule those who leave comments with profanity.

Nailed it the old x-drunk up on the soap box tell every one about the lord . It's a classic in this country.
Keith D thats just funny. You should make that in to a sticker. LOL

St. Lee said...

Anyone see the irony here? ....anyone? ....anyone?

Some might say that an "old x-drunk" becoming a follower of Jesus Christ is a good thing. Others would say it is evil. See the title of the post.

I just made an executive decision. Not only will I delete comments with profanity, I am also going to delete comments that are off topic and obviously have no purpose except to offend other Christians. Of course the one you are really offending is the God who created us all. If you'd like to try to offend me, give it a shot. I care what the Lord thinks of me, not what you think.

My blog - my rules. Any of you are free to start your own blog and name it "Stupid Jokes to Offend Christians"

I have personally had two children die and cannot fathom how people discount the life of a baby. I have family and friends that have different opinions than I do and we can still have a conversation with out the antics. Discussions are good when there is no malicious intent.

I understand that not everyone reading this believes in God, so let's leave God out of the equation and look at the issue. I'll assume that you recognize science and logical reason. Here how the process goes:

1. Is this a living human being? Even a basic understanding of biology leads to the obvious answer that at conception a genetically complete and unique human life is formed. Any attempt to mark another event (such as birth) as to the beginning of life is unscientific, illogical and arbitrary. This is just cold hard fact, even for those who don't believe in God.

2. Now you have to ask the question: Is it wrong to kill human beings? If you're not a Christian then I don't know by what authority you answer this question, but it's a necessary question none the less. If you answer that it is wrong to kill a human being, then by your own deduction you should be against abortion. If you answer that it is not, then you hold no value for human life and must see no problem with any other murder - survival of the fittest, right? If you say that abortion is OK but murder outside of the womb is not, then you just are just inconsistent in your logic - you make up whatever rules feel good to you.

It seems that most pro-abortion people avoid the obvious logic by pulling on the emotional strings of giving women the right to choose. They simply choose not to address the question of whether one person's right to choose to live a certain way trumps another person's right to live at all.

St. Lee said...

Eric, VERY well put! But don't expect any serious response to your point from the pro abortion camp.

Eric said...

Thanks Lee. Yes, I agree, I don't expect a lot of response from the hardcore - those that are firmly entrenched in their principals against all reason and sound judgment - but I believe that most people who identify themselves as pro-choice do so simply out of ignorance. They have not given serious thought to these root issues but rather have been swept up in the mindless frenetic mantra of womens' rights and the false notion that almost everyone is pro-choice. They assume that a majority (not anymore!) cannot be wrong. My hope is that by speaking the truth combined with showing Christian compassion for women to women who have been duped into having an abortion, more of those people will see the truth.

why all the deleted posts? whatever happened to freedom of speech? maybe all the believers are scared of the truth. live your own life and don't feel that you have to belong or follow someone else's rules. do what's right for you. the church don't care if couples shack up, they only care about the donations to keep them going, and that's the truth.

Anon,

Dude, it's his blog. If he choose not to publish stupid, putrid, vile, profane comments then he has that right. By your reasoning, newpapers would have to print each and every letter to the editor they receive.

Aye, cryamba.

St. Lee said...

Anonymous # .....well, I guess I've just totally lost count. This blog is not a government entity, therefore "freedom of speech" is not a right here, it is a privilege. You may have noticed that I left plenty of comments that disagreed with me. I have no problem with disagreement, but I do have a problem with comments that are laced with profanity and/or have no intent other than to offend with a 6th grade level humor at the expense of the name of Christ. As Joe pointed out - its my blog.

As for truth, it is not the believers who are scared of the truth, for the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is the embodiment of truth.

While you are certainly correct that some "churches" care only about the collection plate, real Churches do just the opposite. They help the needy by distributing food and money, as well as preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. Those "churches" that are after your money often are in the limelight, though, so I can see why you might get the impression that they are all like that. It embarrasses me that they call themselves Christian Churches.
