Knuckledragger Sighting

God willing, The Knuckledragger will make an appearance at the Vintage Soul motorcycle show this Saturday in Lakeville. Seemed like a good idea to pour some ethanol in the tank beforehand and make sure it still runs. It does. Word on the street is that there may be some other vintage drag bikes on display as well. Hope to see you there

Thanksgiving in America

Transcript of President George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation from October 3, 1789.

By the President of the United States of America—

A Proclamation

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor—and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their Joint Committee requested me "to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness."

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be—That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks—for his kind care and protection of the People of this country previous to their becoming a Nation—for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war—for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed—for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions—to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually—to render our national government a blessing to all the People, by constantly being a government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shown kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord—To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and Us—and generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

Israel, Hamas, the U.S. and a Christian Worldview

This is a brief post from one of my personal living heroes of the faith, James White of Alpha & Omega Ministries.  I'm passing it on because it reflects both a Christian and a conservative political worldview concerning the attack on Israel this past weekend.

"I have lived long enough to see a great deal of war and conflict take place in and around Israel. This is the first time it is so blatantly obvious that the Regime that has captured control of the US has aided in the attacks, AND, will use them to further destroy the US itself. Just one little jolting bit of reality: the Regime (it is not an administration when it ignores the Constitution and undercuts our laws) has not only opened our borders and allowed MILLIONS of military aged men to invade our country, but it has also DRAINED our strategic petroleum reserves to historic lows (currently only 17 days) right when a war is breaking out in the Middle East and the Regime has strangled domestic production. Coincidence? Only to the brain-dead moron. When your children are going hungry because there is no food to be purchased because it cannot be transported any longer, I hope you will remember the traitors who destroyed us from within. (And please note: I am not addressing the justice of this judgment: the traitorous betrayal of our nation is quite fitting given the nation's detestation of God's law and God's ways.)"

That Rare Commodity

I listen to him on the radio often, most mornings in fact.  He is entertaining, and on most political issues worth hearing. On issues of morality, he comes across as, how should I put it, a decent role model. However, therein may lie the danger.  I hesitate to use the terminology of “a wolf in sheep’s clothing”, but there is good reason to beware.  While he speaks MUCH about God and uses Christian “lingo” every day, he is not a Christian (though he would claim the contrary). The man I am talking about is Glen Beck.

In case you missed it, Glen Beck is, and has been for many years, a Mormon.  So what’s the big deal, you might ask? Well, maybe you missed that as well, but Mormons are not Christians! In fact, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as the Mormons or LDS, is THE most polytheistic (multiple gods) religion in the world, far surpassing even eastern religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism. In LDS theology, there are literally (and I mean literally in its original sense, not the way it is commonly used today), an infinite number of gods. Though they would claim to be monotheists, that is just another example of Mormons using a term in a way that is foreign to traditional Christian usage.  When they claim monotheism, what they mean is that they only worship the god of this planet.

The one called “Heavenly Father” in LDS teaching, was once a man (and a sinner!) from a planet circling a star called Kolob, who “progressed” into godhood at which time he “organized” this planet out of matter, which they believe to be eternal.  The “Jesus Christ” who they use in the name of their church is the firstborn of an innumerable number of spirit children born to “Heavenly Father” by one of his many wives, which he married as a man back on his home planet (where he earned his godhood). Also among “Heavenly Father’s” eldest spirit children is Lucifer, which makes Jesus and Lucifer brothers (there’s always one black sheep in the family, right?), and though much, much younger, you and I are also spirit brothers to them both. When it comes right down to it, a whole pile of the terms we use as Christians have a meaning among the LDS that is completely foreign to us.  Even “salvation”, which is arguably one of the most important concepts in Christianity, means something totally different to a Mormon.

That is just the peak of the iceberg of reasons that Mormons cannot be called fellow Christians by those who truly are.  But back to Glen Beck. I do not argue that you should not listen to his radio program. He’s funny. His political views are generally quite reasonable.  Just be aware that when he starts talking religion, what comes out of his mouth does not mean the same thing to him as what you might think it means (assuming you are a Christian). Exercise some discernment; that commodity which seems to be so rare these days.

... or Banana Republic?

It would appear that the meme (above) which I created in response to the purloined Presidential race in the year of our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty is proving itself valid.  This is exactly what happens when a nation that was founded on Christian principles turns their back on the God who blessed them so richly.  Without God there is no longer any foundation for morality. The morals of the nation are now planted squarely on shifting sand, at the mercy of the hearts of those running the nation via government, media, education, and popular culture.  When those hearts are darkened, the people suffer the consequences.  “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” (Proverbs 29:2)

Because of this lack of morality caused by the rejection of God, we have no reason to think that “evidence” will not be planted, elections rigged (again), and our Constitution shredded. The FBI has shown itself to have metamorphosized into an agency more akin to the KGB than the entity that was once revered by good men.  The IRS is soon to get reinforcements for its weaponization to be used against any who love God and love freedom.

"Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us." (Psalm 2:1-3)

By the way, just in case any might be confused, the LORD’s anointed mentioned in that Psalm is Jesus Christ: our only hope for peace and justice in this age or any other

[This was first posted on Face Book but it appears that their filters are keeping it from being viewed by very many -at least compared to how many see anything I might post about other subjects. Odd, isn't it?]

An Election With More Rigging Than a Five-Masted Clipper Ship

You’re right.  I can only dream of being such a master of prose as to have come up with that title. But it doesn’t matter because I am here to direct you to the one who is that master of prose, namely, Doug Wilson.  If you are a conservative, and especially if you are a conservative Christian (if that’s not redundant) and you don’t follow Pastor Wilson’s writing and/or his readings of his writings, then the question is … why not?  He is on of my trusted sources for commentary on current issues in our “one nation under siege” (not 100% sure, but I think I just coined that phrase ... or else I have forgotten where I heard it before).  Oh sure, you might wonder why a Baptist such as I would promote a Presbyterian Pastor’s work, but that’s any easy one.  Doug is one of the old-style Presbyterians.  You know, the kind who believe the Bible, believe the gospel, and are trusting in the blood of Jesus for salvation.  So what if they misunderstand baptism; I trust that if that misunderstanding rises to the level of sin, then that too is one of the sins that Jesus paid the penalty for (and I am sure he would grant me the same grace).

This short video is just a small sample of what you can expect to hear for Pastor Wilson. This particular video is actually his book review of “Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections” by Mollie Hemingway.

https://www.amazon.com/Rigged-Media-Democrats-Seized-Elections/dp/168451259X

So, here is a painless way to find out if the book itself is something you want on your shelf, perhaps to keep as a record of what really happened once history has been fully re-written (as is being attempted as we speak).  Or maybe you want a free synopsis of the book to save you the purchase price.  Either way, its worth a few minutes of your time.

BTW, I personally prefer Doug’s writing to his reading of his writing.  I think it may be the cadence of his voice.  However, listening while I work in the shop does allow me to try to keep the shop at least close to profitable. You can find much more of Doug’s work here: Blog and Mablog (if you are not a Christian you might miss the play-on-words type reference to Gog and Magog from the Bible’s book of Revelation).
